A multi-storey building, as defined by law, but not particularly tall. Eight floors, with two homes on each floor—sixteen homes in all.

The challenge, as always, was to go beyond simply stacking homes one above the other. Our desire was to create moments of connection across the building—to step out of the lift and encounter the city, a garden or a shared space that could become a part of everyday life.

These gardens and common spaces belong to everyone, but to no one in particular. They are shared places that can help create a sense of community across the many floors.

The planning had to be efficient, while ensuring that light, ventilation and services were carefully integrated, as they are in all our projects.

​

The building does not shout for attention from the street. Its expression is quiet and restrained. But within, we hope it changes the quality of everyday life—creating not just individual homes, but a shared environment where people can belong.

A building that is quiet on the outside, but hopefully full of life within.
